London’s big girl room :)

Here it is!  A labor of love!  London’s big girl room is finished!  The colors look a bit off for some reason here…but the true colors are turquoise, hot pink, light pink, yellow, black, white, and grey.  Got that?  :)  That’s lots of colors!  We made almost everything in this room…and that wall.  That wall.  That wall took sooo long…the accessories you see were handmade and designed and took foreevr to put together!  Remember, with two babies everything takes longer!  ;)

Just a few quick DIY things to mention:  the yellow bed was bought from Craig’s list and was brown.  Matt painted and poly’ed it and we cut the legs a bit shorter bc it felt so tall when we first put it in there.  It is 90 years old!  And worry not…she does have bedrails…they just fold down and slide under the mattress when not in use;) The bedspread was actually bought NEW from Urban Outfitters!  It was my splurge…a grey ruffle…and it was perfect.  The pillows are a mix from etsy, Target, Hob Lob and some we already had.  The side table is Target and another thing we didn’t make.  We just taped the diamond pattern on the wall.  I spray painted 50 thousand things…the mirrors (2 we already had and were my grandma’s) I wanted bright yellow and floor to ceiling.  the bird cages I sprayed black and put ribbon on them as a faux chandelier.  The dresser was her changing table…I mod podged wrapping paper on top and changed the knobs to crystal knobs.  The painting above her bed I did, along with everything else on that wall…yard sale finds painted, quotes I designed in Photoshop, even her little sheep from her crib mobile…jsut a little piece of her baby room we wanted to keep:) I even sprayed the silver vases I found at Goodwill…and I covered the lampshade in fabric.

All in all i was super long and super fun.  She even has a toy box, beauty vanity, and table and chairs for art (which we painted…antique finds.  The table is just an end table.)  Thanks for looking and I hope you love it!

Oh, and my mom sewed the fabulous curtains!  Who knew she could be published as a seamstress in a national magazine?  ;)

This room you created for your daughter is absolutely the MOST precious room and I found myself being jealous of this little girl!! Wow! Thank you all so much for the huge amount of sweet comments…I REALLY appreciate hearing good things from you and you taking the time to leave a comment! It means so much! I will try to answer the large amount of questions: The “you are my sunshine” I designed myself. :) The frames are a mixture of The Modern Knot and The Organic Bloom…the yellow circle one was a mirror I busted and painted to make into a frame…the octagon is just a metal piece from goodwill that I painted black and made into a frame…let’s see…the three ornate looking frames (good morning beautiful, yellow bird, and black and white print of my babies) are from hobby lobby (the black and white one was not a frame though) The 4 bigger ones are from the two places I mentioned. They both have similar frames and prices! The paint colors are form Lowes and I don’t know the names at the moment but I will check! The yellow paint for the bed is just yellow Krylon spray paint. It was the only bright yellow they had…not sure if it has a name other than yellow haha…the “my smiles” is a copy I saw on Pinterest (the one I copied was WAY better!) I mixed the color and painted it, then cut letters on my cricut and spray adhesive-d them on. You can also cover it with Mod Podge to protect if you want. Chevron fabric is from etsy…there are lots of color and size options on there, search for “Chevron strip fabric yard” to see the explosion of options! :) And I don’t mind people asking about the cost AT ALL, in fact, its the part I love most. We already had the chandelier ($40!) and the changing table…(we took the top part off, mod-podged some wrapping paper to the top and changed out the knobs for some with more glam)…and already had the rug. But everything else we put in. Table and chairs, curtains, pink rug, mirrors, that entire wall of stuff, bed, mattress/box springs, side table, lamp, toy box, etc. and it was all only about $800! That’s the thing…I see these rooms all over the place that are RIDICULOUSLY beautiful and so amazing…especially Kitchens and Bathrooms. But I KNOW they cost what it would cost me to redo my entire house. I want to see more rooms under $1000! Furniture and all!

Seriously, you all have no idea how much it means to me that I have “inspired” you or made you want to try a DIY project…amazing! Thank you! :)

Actually, scratch that…ALL the colors of paint (bed, pink wall and turquoise wall) are wall paint from Wal-Mart, they are the “Better Homes and Gardens” brand…will look for color names tomorrow! It was the mirrors and other accessories I used the Krylon spray on :)

The walls were pretty simple…paint the wall white then use the thickest painter’s tape you can find…Then paint over that with the color you want…make sure to take the tape off when the paints is still wet so it won’t peel away on the edges :)

DAnielle, soon you will be able to find out how you can get the prints, some of them ready to hang! :)

The band who plays the music is no longer a band but you can still get their music on amazon. I’ve had TONS of inquiries about them! They are Red Shepherd and the first song is called “Grey”

Now about the paint color…I’ve probably gotten the most questions about them…the bad news is I don’t have the color names. I know they are Better Homes and Gardens from Wal-Mart…they didn’t put the color name on top of the can! I do have the mix info though…it is printed on there. The turquoise color is like this: BHG Interior Eggshell/Satin, use one gallon of light base (6201B): D 1 Y 20, E 38 1/2, L 1 Y 12 1/2

If you’d like the mix info for the yellow and the pink please let me know!

The polka dot sheets came from Target :)

I love this room and am so excited that you are willing to share sources. I’m the type of person who goes to Ikea and buys the entire room, furniture, rugs, lamps, pictures. Even more exciting is my 6 year old loves it as well. We are going to Walmart tomorrow and buying the turquoise. Can you please let us know what the pink color is? We have spray painted an old mirror turquoise and it was so much fun! I can send you pictures when we are finished! It will be funny that so many little girls will have this room.

Did anybody else try the turquoise paint color? I tried at my local Walmart and they mixed what I had written down. It came out a slate blue. The guy was very nice and told me I didn’t have to buy it. Ginny-can’t wait to buy those fun little prints.

So I have been searching for a bedspread for my little girl and found the one you used from Urban Outfitters, but what color did you get? The one you have in the pic looks almost like a light tan and that’s not an option:) Thanks so much. Hey there! It is not tan…it is light grey :) . Tan wasnt an option for us either due to our clor palette of teal pink and yellow…and it’s not offered in tan…I think you can get it in grey, white, and maybe one other color :)

Love love love this room, especially the gallery wall. I am redoing my 3 year old daughter’s room to include our new baby’s nursery (due in January), and this is great inspiration! I bought my daughter a wood bed off GL that I want to paint exactly like this one in yellow. Can u tell me how you chives this amazing bright yellow on your wood bed??? Please????

Hi, you said the table came from Target. Is there a name on the bottom of it? I’ve checked two different stores and I don’t think they carry it anymore. I remember seeing it in the past though. Trying to see if I can find it online somewhere if I have a name. Thanks!

Ginny, I tried to get that same turquoise color at Walmart and had a problem since there was no name. I gave them the numbers and it didn’t help. I am desperate to find the same color—can you help me???

Hey I thought I’d try again here. I am going to try and paint my daughters bed this weekend and I hoped I could get you to give me the formula off the can please ma’am.? Also while your at it can I get the pink formula as well? This is the main picture on my design board. I just love it. When I’m done with Isabel’s room I will emailu a picture, because after all your room was our inspiration.
